Not to be ignored, it also features cameras that are powered by Leica technology. Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei's consumer products business, announced the Mate X on Sunday in a press conference.

Ultra slim and ultra compact

The company also introduced the phone in a series of tweets boasting of its many features. For starters, Huawei said the phone was "ultra slim" and "ultra-compact" "opening to just 5.4mm thick and folding to a slimline 11mm."

The phone is Huawei's first foldable phone and it has some other new neat developments. It has a groove called a sidebar that allows you to hold the phone from one end.

There are no camera bumps on this phone and the fingerprint sensor is directly on the power button. Huawei calls the Mate X's design "Falcon Wing" and says there are over 100 patented components on the smartphone's hinge.

Last but not least, Huawei claims the phone combines the world’s first 7nm 5G multi-mode modem, the Balong5000, with the Kirin980 for unrivaled speed.
